I recently stayed at Troutbeck 12 in Windermere and had a wonderful time. The self-contained lodge was perfect for my small family, with a fully equipped kitchen and two bedrooms. The view of the lake was breathtaking, and we enjoyed being just a short drive away from the major towns. The lodge itself was clean and well-maintained, and the owner was very helpful with excellent communication. I highly recommend this place for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

While there were a few drawbacks, such as the isolated location and the weak internet offered by the developer, these were minor inconveniences compared to the overall experience. The lodge doors warping in the summer was also a slight issue, but it didn't significantly impact our stay.

The accommodation had two bathrooms, which was a bonus for our big family. We didn't have to wait in line to use the facilities at night. It didn't feel cramped even with six people staying. The communication with the hosts before our stay was quick, clear, and helpful.

That the lodge was a bit isolated from the nearby towns. It took us about 7-10 minutes to walk to the water's edge, and the area was quite congested with other lodges.

There is also a collection of DVDs available for entertainment on rainy days. The lodge is located in a great spot, close to many activities and with easy access to the lake.

The bar service was slow and the pool changing area was grubby and too small.
